Super Eagles: 10 Nigerians you need to watch in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, and Bundesliga
All you need to know about the Nigerian and Super Eagles stars set to light up Europe's top five leagues as the new season kicks in.
The Super Eagles start their AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign next month with matches against Gernot Rohr’s Benin and Rwanda.
Nigeria start their campaign with a home clash against Benin in the weekend of September 7 before taking on Rwanda three days later.
Although the two matches are still two weeks away, the Super Eagles camp is expected to open on September 1 in Uyo, the venue of the clash against Benin.
The foreign-based players are expected to troop into the country as early as they complete their club obligations that weekend.
However, despite the anticipation of the two matches, there are still doubts over who will be in charge of the team for the two games.
The Super Eagles are currently without a coach after Finidi George left his role following the 2-1 defeat to Benin in June’s World Cup qualifiers.
Names like Herve Renard, Jan Olof "Janne" Andersson and Tom Saintfiet are some of the names in the media, but the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to announce Finidi’s successor.
It now looks likely that an interim manager will be in charge when the three-time African champions play next month.
Osimhen doubtful for AFCON 2025Q
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen is a huge doubt for Nigeria’s two AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
Although the list is not out yet, Osimhen could miss out as his future at Napoli is not sorted yet. The Nigerian star missed Napoli’s first league game and he is not expected to play for the club again.
