The only trophies that have come to CECAFA region were won by Sudan and Ethiopia on home soil.

This week CAF awarded the rights to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations to the Pamoja Bid presented by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

The news has elicited debate around the three countries but most especially raising hopes that maybe one or all the three teams that will qualify automatically will pull out something special.

Of he three, Uganda Cranes have reached closest to winning the Africa Cup of Nations after reaching the final in the 1978 finals.

The golden Ugandan generation lost to Ghana who were the hosts of the finals.

In total, there have been 36 Africa Cup of Nations hosted with the host nations winning 11 of them.

Egypt and Ghana have been the most successful hosts winning twice at home.

The only trophies that have come to CECAFA region were won by Sudan and Ethiopia on home soil.
