The Young Ocean Stars booked its ticket to Algiers after beating Uganda in the semi-final of the zonal play-offs.
Somalia Football Federation (SFF) has refuted Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to debar their star midfielder Abdihafid Mohamed Abdi from the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Algeria.
The federation insisted that Elman FC player was named in the final squad for the tournament as he is within the age bracket as specified by the body.
"Today, the results of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) conducted on the national team players came out and showed that they are the right age to participate in the competition,” reads a statement published on SFF’s official Facebook page.
Unfortunately, Abdihafid Mohamed failed the test.
The Somali Football Federation demands evidence as the first test in Addis Ababa ascertained he was within the required age limit.
The association has requested a copy of MRI images of player Abdihadif, and we will share the results publicly.”
