Ampem Darkoa will be flying the region at the third edition of the CAF Women's Champions League slated for November 5 and 19 in Ivory Coast.

Just five days after Medeama SC defeated Remo Stars in Ikenne to qualify for the next round of the CAF champions League, Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions, Delta Queens, suffered another defeat to Ghanian Ampem Darkoa in the final of the WAFU B qualifiers of the Women's CAF Champions League.

The Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeated Delta Queens 1-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Thursday.

The Ghanian Ladies lost to Bayelsa Queens in penalty shootouts to represent the West African region at last year’s CAF Women’s Champions League in Cote d’Ivoire.

Ophelia Amponsah's lone goal two minutes before halftime put the Nana Mma ahead, after a sloppy defensive clear-out in the depths of the Delta Queens' box was tapped into the back of the net.

Tosan Bob Blankson, the Delta Queens' coach, will restart the second half by bringing in the fresh legs of Mercy Omokwo and Temitope Owoeye directly into the heat, hoping to salvage a possible equalizer in the aftermath of the game, but to no avail.

As the half-hour mark approached, Anderline Mgbechi's superb save denied Ampem Darkoa's Mary Amponsah's close-range shot, with Delta Queens' attacking arsenal - Effion-Anwan Ekeng combining with Temitope Owoeye to set Mercy Omokwo up in the 18-yard box, but denied by the sturdy gloves of 15-year-old Aishetu Fatao Awinimi.

Mercy Omokwo's skill was no match for the Ghanaian shot-stopper, who briskly reacted to the ball in a praised manner, and Delta Queens will have another great chance to score from a hazardous attack.

Ampem Darkoa's disciplined defensive line was all that separated them from Delta Queens' fire-pumping zeal in the closing ten minutes, but nothing came out of the cunning minds to force the game into extra time.
