Leicester City veteran Jamie Vardy has once again defied his age, scoring on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Vardy has expressed his desire to continue playing beyond 40

The 37-year-old, who signed a new one-year deal last summer, showed no signs of slowing down as he headed home an equaliser in the 57th minute against Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite missing pre-season due to a knee injury, Vardy's return to action made a significant impact on the game.

His 57th minute goal marked his eighth on the opening day of a Premier League campaign, a remarkable record second only to Mohamed Salah.

The Leicester City striker has become only the second player to score on the opening day of a Premier League campaign at the age of 37 or older.

The first was Teddy Sheringham, who achieved the feat for West Ham United in 2006 at the age of 39.

Meanwhile, Vardy has expressed his desire to continue playing beyond his 40th birthday.

The striker attributed his longevity to meticulous recovery routines, including the use of cryotherapy and oxygen therapy, "I see age as just a number," he said per Daily Mail.

"As long as I keep looking after myself, and as long as my legs still feel great before training and games, then I'll carry on for as long as physically as possible."

Next up for Leicester City is away game to Fulham FC in the English Premier League, on Saturday, August 24th.
