Cristiano Ronaldo continues to answer his critics on the pitch after he opened his account for the season for Al Nassr following a poor Euro 2024.

Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has once again demonstrated his enduring ability on the football pitch, moving within striking distance of an extraordinary milestone - 900 career goals.

The 39-year-old Portuguese superstar now stands just four goals shy of this remarkable achievement, following his recent performance for Al Nassr in the Saudi Super Cup semifinals.

Cristiano Ronaldo close in on milestone

In a comfortable 2-0 victory against Al-Taawoun, Ronaldo not only assisted the opening goal but also found the back of the net himself, marking his 896th career goal.

This latest strike carries additional significance as it extends Ronaldo's scoring streak to an unprecedented 23 consecutive seasons as a professional, further cementing his status as one of football's all-time greats.

This resurgence comes on the heels of a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign with Portugal in Germany for the former Juventus star.

For the first time in his illustrious career, Ronaldo failed to score in a major tournament as Portugal exited in the quarter-finals, falling to France in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw.

The team's elimination prompted some fans to question Ronaldo's future in international football, with calls for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to retire from national team duty.

However, Ronaldo's swift return to form with Al Nassr suggests he's far from finished. His goal and assist were instrumental in securing Al Nassr's place in the Super Cup final, demonstrating that the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star still has plenty to offer at the highest level.

As Ronaldo inches closer to the 900-goal milestone, debate about his international future is likely to continue. Yet, his ability to bounce back from setbacks and consistently perform at an elite level, even at 39, serves as a reminder of his exceptional talent and determination.

With the football world watching, Ronaldo's pursuit of 900 career goals adds another chapter to his already legendary career, proving that age is just a number for this evergreen superstar.
