Former Vipers SC head coach Alex Isabirye has officially bid farewell to the Kitende based club bringing an end to the drama-filled exit from the Uganda champions.

Isabirye, a double silverware winning coach of the Stanbic Uganda Cup and StarTimes Uganda Premier League titles in a period of about four months at the club gave his farewell expressing gratitude.

“Today I officially leave Vipers but I want to express my sincere gratitude towards the club that has been my home,” Isabirye said in a statement published on his social media accounts.

“It has been a short spell but worth remembering. Thank you, Vipers, from the club president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa to the officials, players, fans and non-coaching staff.”

Alex Isabirye resigned from his role as Vipers SC head coach role on Wednesday

“Thank you all for your endeavours to see that the club not only competes but also wins. I wish you the best in your upcoming engagements,” Isabrye added.

In his resignation letter, Isabirye cited interference in his duties as the head coach and expressed concern that he lacked control over the recruitment of new players and coaches whose capacities he did not know.

He revealed that he was shocked by the unveiling of two Brazilian players, Giancarlo Lopez and Luis ‘Tinga’ Otavio Santos and an assistant coach Raoul Lukusa Kayembe.

“I am writing to confirm my resignation from the position of head coach of Vipers SC due to breach of my contract,” part of the letter reads.

“Article 5, Section 3 and 4 of my employment contract states that I am responsible for endorsing players being recruited and choosing my assistant team/staff in consultation with the club management.”

“However, this clause was not honoured and I was not aware of the recruitment of three current members of the team: Raoul Lukusa Kayembe (assistant coach) and two Brazilian Players Giancarlo Lopez and Luis ‘Tinga’ Otavio Santos.”

Vipers are yet to respond to any of those developments
