The Blues saw their nine-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League come to an end after losing at home against west London neighbours Fulham.
Enzo Maresca’s side failed to win for the second game in a row, with Cole Palmer’s solo goal proving not to be enough, as Fulham produced a brilliant display to win 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
It was the Cottagers' first-ever win at Chelsea's home in the Premier League era, and it saw their unbeaten streak extend to six matches.
Marcos Silva’s inspired substitution caps a dominant display for Fulham
Palmer gave Chelsea the lead just after the quarter-hour mark, receiving the ball on a half turn, skipping past two players, before placing the ball perfectly into the bottom corner.
Despite both teams probing with the visitors on the ascendancy, the game did not see another goal before half time, as the Blues led into the break.
Chelsea came out from the break looking better, and five minutes into the second half, Levi Colwill put the ball into the net, but he was ruled to be fractionally offside.
However, from that point, the Cottagers took over the game and were finally rewarded with a goal in the 82nd minute.
Antonee Robinson’s cross found Timothy Castagne, whose header found another substitute, Harry Wilson, at the back post.
The Cottagers continued to probe and were eventually rewarded, with another substitute, Rodrigo Muniz, finishing off a fine team move with one-touch control and a finish into the bottom corner five minutes into the stoppage time.
