Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to turn down a move to Real Madrid and sign a new contract extension with Liverpool.

Real is eager to add the talented England player, who is set to leave on a free agent in the summer, to their Galacticos squad.

The England international has been on the radar of the Champions League winners since the start of the transfer window.

However, he is set to commit his future with the Reds who are looking to tie him down with a bumper deal.

Arnold set for Liverpool stay

Arnold is set to be offered a bumper deal by Liverpool that will see him remain at Anfield and wade off interest from Real Madrid.

According to the Sun, Alexander-Arnold is enthusiastic about the upcoming Anfield era and has spoken with new manager Arne Slot.

A source connected to the club said, "Trent’s spoken to the new manager already. This took place before the Euros and they’re in touch now.

"They had a great conversation initially but the manager respected that he needed to focus on the tournament.

"Trent, like the rest of the squad, sees this as a new beginning and a fresh start and he is excited to get back to training to lay the foundations for a successful, new season.

"He is definitely committed for the season and a huge deal will be presented to him to stay beyond that.

"Everyone at the club has huge admiration for Trent and will be doing whatever it takes to keep him. He’s still got so much more to give."

Alexander-Arnold has been tipped as a future Liverpool captain after being given the vice-captain position in July 2023.

Last season, he played 28 games in the Premier League, scoring three goals for Liverpool. The new manager Arne Slot will be looking to utilise his talent next season.
