Besenbaini is set to join Dortmund at the start of next season
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly agreed on a deal to sign 27-year-old Algerian left-back Ramy Bensebaini on a free transfer at the start of next season.
Bensebaini to join Borussia Dortmund
According to a report from FootMercato, the defender will join BVB from Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of the 2023/24 season after failing to agree to a contract extension with Die Fohlen.
Bensebaini has been an integral part of Monchengladbach’s setup even though they knew he would not be signing a new contract with the club.
He has played 21 games in all competitions this season and has started every league game that he was fit for.
Bensebaini chose Dortmund over other suitors
He has also helped the team with six goals in all competitions from left-back and his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch made him a coveted player before Dortmund snapped him up.
Bensebaini was scouted by Inter, and Atletico Madrid but ultimately chose to remain in Germany with Dortmund.
Bensebaini is a full Algerian international and has played for the Foxes on 51 occasions, scoring six goals in the process.
He was also part of the Algerian team that lifted the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the semifinal on the way to the gold medal.
Bensebaini will be seen as a direct replacement for Portuguese left-back Raphael Guerrero, who will be out of contract with Dortmund in June.
