Desert Foxes of Algeria did the double over Niger Republic to book their spot in the 2024 AFCON party.

North African country Algeria is the latest country to book a spot in the 2024 AFCON slated for Ivory Coast.

The Desert Foxes became the third country to reach the finals after a 1-0 win over Niger Republic in Tunis.

For the second time in five days, the Foxes were pushed to their limit by the Niger side.

Baghdad Bounedjah was the hero this time in the second leg, with Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez involved again.

Algeria joins Morocco

The former champions will compete in the next AFCON after picking a ticket against Niger Republic.

The Desert Foxes completed a double over the Niger Republic to join neighbours Morocco and host Ivory Coast as the only countries to have booked a place in next year's competition.

The win for Djamel Belmadi's men over Niger saw them remain top of their group with 12 points after four wins out of four matches.

The Desert Foxes booked a place with two games to spare, guaranteeing them a top-two finish in the group.

Elsewhere;

Nigeria and Ghana took one step forward to the AFCON 2024 after positive outings on Tuesday.

Nigeria's Super Eagles avenged their defeat at home with a narrow 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in Bissau.

Nantes winger Moses Simon scored the only goal of the match after he converted a first-half penalty.

Victor Osimhen and Joe Aribo also came close to adding to the scoreline as Nigeria held on to return to the top of Group A.

In Group A, Ghana made it four points from a possible six against Angola following a 1-1 draw in Luanda.

Osman Bukari was the hero after his late goal denied Lucas Joao's opener for the home side to ensure a share of the spoils.
