Egypt's manager, Hossam Hassan, explained that the landscape of African football is changing and that games are no longer straight-forward.
Egypt's men's national team's new manager, Hossam Hassan, highlighted the shifting environment in African football and how there are no more pushovers on the continent as he prepares for his team's upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Hassan, 57, took on the role of Egypt's head coach on February 6, 2024, after Portuguese manager Rui Vitoria was sacked following a disappointing AFCON outing, in which the Pharaohs failed to register a win.

Liverpool identify Belgian winger as Salah's replacement
The Redsare said to be gearing up for a future without Mohamed Salah, and have identified a Belgian youngster as a viable replacement.
What Hassan said
Egypt were not one of the five that represented Africa in Qatar 2022, and they had a disappointing AFCON; however, they look to the future with former player Hassan.
Egypt are in Group A of the 2026 CAF World Cup qualifiers and have started brilliantly, winning their first two games. They are set to play Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau in June, and ahead of the clashes, Hassan had an interview with FIFA.
The former Al-Ittihad coach explained that games are no longer straightforward as teams on the continent are developing exponentially.
"Football in Africa is no longer as straightforward as it used to be. All CAF teams are continuously developing and improving, both technically and physically. However, we are prepared for any challenges that come our way," he said, per English.ahram.org.
However, he trusts in his current crop of players and believes they are capable of delivering trophies.
"The current generation boasts some great players, led by Salah and Trezeguet, and I hope they will bring home trophies with the national team and secure a spot in the World Cup."
