Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez will cross paths when Man city and Inter Milan play in the Champions League final. Both players will be looking to add to their World Cup medals and join 11 other stars who won the World Cup and Champions League in the same season.

Either Julain Alvarez of Manchester City and Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan will be lifting the Champions League this season.

The duo helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last December and both players are looking forward to adding the most prestigious club trophy into their trophy cabinet.

The conquest for Alvarez and Martinez

Inter got the better of their city rivals AC Milan to reach the final by a 3-0 aggregate scoreline while Alvarez’s City had an emphatic 5-1 win over Real Madrid over two legs.

Both Alvarez and Martinez scored in the respective semi final clashes against their opponents as the stage is set for who wants to win it all.

The European heavyweights are ready to face each other in the final on June 10, in Istanbul as Inter will  be looking to win their fourth while City are yet to lift the silverware.

Other legends that have won the World Cup and Champions League in the same season

Alvarez or Martinez will join the likes of German legends Sepp Maier and Paul Breitner, Hans-Georg Schwarzenbeck, Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Uli Hoeness, and Jupp Kapelman who all won the World Cup for Germany and lifted the Champions League with Bayern in 1974.

Christian Karembeu did it 1998 with Real Madrid and France while Roberto Carlos was also in the history books with Brazil and the Spanish giants in 2002.

Sami Khedira won both trophies with Germany and Real Madrid in 2014 as well as Raphael Varane won it for Madrid and France in 2018.
