"With the kind of talent we have, we shouldn’t be in this position. We need to come together and stay focused on achieving our World Cup dream. We must be determined like other countries," the former Montpellier forward stated.

Despite the gap, Utaka believes that qualification is still within reach; he urged the team to fight for every point in their remaining fixtures.

"In football, anything can happen. We shouldn’t give up. I still believe we can qualify, but it all depends on how we approach the games ahead," he concluded.

Nigeria finds themselves in a challenging position in Group C, trailing leaders South Africa by six points.

Rwanda and Benin also sit ahead of the Super Eagles with 8 points each, while Nigeria have accumulated 7 points.
