The big-money arrival was spotted on crutches and is now rumoured to be absent for the foreseeable future.

Manchester United have reportedly been dealt a significant blow with the news that new signing Leny Yoro faces up to two months on the sidelines with a suspected broken metatarsal as per The Mirror

Yoro’s injury

The young defender suffered the injury during the club's pre-season friendly defeat by Arsenal weeks after joining the Red Devils.

The 18-year-old, who joined United in a £59 million deal from Lille, was immediately substituted after sustaining the injury and was pictured on crutches days after. With Lisandro Martinez still recovering from international duty, the injury to Yoro leaves Erik ten Hag with limited options at the back as the 2024-25 campaign approaches.

According to The Mirror, United are likely to accelerate their pursuit of a new central defender following Yoro's injury, despite showing interest in Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite, and with Raphael Varane having departed and Willy Kambwala joining Villarreal

What comes next?

Ten Hag will have to rely on Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans to partner at the heart of the defence for the opening Premier League game against Fulham, with the club facing a race against time to strengthen their defensive options before the transfer window closes.

The Red Devils are on tour in the United States, where they next play Liverpool on August 4 before their return for the Community Shield against Manchester City on August 10.
