In the 13th minute, Bukayo Saka found an equalizer for Arsenal but he missed a penalty in the 22nd minute to put the Gunners up.
Raphinha's deflected free-kick put Barcelona back ahead in the 34th minute.
The Gunners were not down for long as Kai Havertz continued his fine form converting a ball through to him by Martin Odegaard in the 43rd minute as both sides went to the halftime break level.
After a host of changes at the halftime break, Arsenal went in front for the first time in the game through Leandro Trossard in the 55th minute.
On the counterattack, Trossard scored his second from a ball by Kieran Tierney to put the Gunners up 4-2 in the 78th minute.
Ferran Torres converted a ball by Ousmane Dembele in the 88th minute to reduce the deficit.
However, a minute later Fabio Viera whipped the ball into the top corner to seal the win for Arsenal.

Arsenal star Trossard rose to the top of the trends on social media after a convincing victory against Barcelona.
Trossard got the nod from Mikel Arteta to start on the left side of the attack.
After a relatively quiet first period, Trossard burst into life in the second half to give Arsenal their first lead of the game.
