The Gunners are set to sign the Belgian international after they were beaten to the signature of Mudryk.
Arsenal are set to sign Belgium star Leandro Trossard from Brighton after missing out on Ukrainian star Mykhailo Mudryk.
The Gunners had been courting Mudryk all season and were sure of getting his services before Chelsea hijacked the deal by paying £88m for the 22-year-old.
Arsenal choose Trossard as Mudryk's alternative
However, Arsenal have put the disappointment behind them and are close to signing an alternative in Leandro Trossard.
Trossard is currently on the books of Brighton, with his contract not expiring until the summer of 2024. However, the 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club, with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea also interested in the Belgian international.
Brighton and Arsenal in advanced talks
However, it appears Arsenal are in the pole position to sign him after agreeing personal terms with the ex-KRC Genk man.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have already reached a personal agreement with Trossard but still need to agree on a fee with Brighton. However, talks are at an advanced stage, with Trossard expected to sign a longterm contract.
But that should not be a problem as The Seagulls are willing to let Trossard go this month. Trossard and Brighton are currently at loggerheads after the Belgian’s agent called on the club to sell his client.
The 28-year-old has also been frozen out of the first team by manager Roberto De Zerbi for downing tools.
As a result, Brighton are willing to let their star striker leave this month. However, Arsenal may have to pay a fee in the region of £40m to sign the Belgium star.
The Gunners will be getting a player who has an eye for goals. Trossard is currently Brighton’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with seven goals in 16 appearances.
