Arsenal, Chelsea, or Man Utd? - Pulse Sports Nigeria analysts pick 24/25 Premier League winner

Pulse Sports Team 16:21 - 18.10.2024

Expert football analysts at Pulse Sports Nigeria have had their say on who will be crowned Premier League Champions in the 2024/2025 seasons. Do you agree with them?

The 2024/2025 English Premier League kicked off in August, with Manchester United claiming all three points courtesy of a late strike from Joshua Zirkzee against Fulham.

Last season’s runners-up Arsenal defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers by two goals to nil; Arne Slot’s Liverpool also overcame newly-promoted Ipswich Town by the same scoreline, while reigning Champions Manchester City picked all three points at Stamford Bridge.

However, there have been mixed fortunes for many teams since the opening day of the Premier League, with Liverpool sitting on top, followed by Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

However, the question on everyone’s lips is who will be the new EPL Champions come May next year. Will Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City retain the league title or will a new team usurp them at the top of the table? Here’s what Pulse Sports Nigeria analysts have to say;

Asukwo Oduo

Manchester City remain overwhelming favourites to retain the Premier League title, having won four in a row. However, I feel this is Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s year. The Gunners came agonisingly close last term and if not for the blemish at Aston Villa, they would have won the league.

With Pep Guardiola’s side growing weaker and weaker by the day, the Gunners could finally end their 20-year wait for a league title.

I still have Manchester City as the favourite because the defending champions have Pep Guardiola, the best manager in the world.

However, I think this could also be the year Arsenal win their first Premier League title since 2004.

Mikel Arteta’s men have been close in the last two seasons but I think they have the mentality to get the job done this season.

I also have Liverpool in the mix despite the departure of Jurgen Klopp, but they will need to back Arne Slot in the transfer market.

Despite Manchester City's four Premier League titles in succession, Pep Guardiola's group do look like a side at the end of a cycle while Arsenal have improved year-on-year under Mikel Arteta and ran Guardiola's men close last term.

With the Gunners welcoming back last season's injured players in Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber and adding Riccardo Calafiori to effectively solve their left-back issue, allied with Man City losing Julian Alvaraez to Atletico Madrid and Oscar Bobb to injury, Arteta's troops seem primed to end their 20-year wait for a Premier League title this season.

Manchester City are of course the favourites to win the 2024/25 Premier League title but Mikel Arteta's Arsenal do look the most likely to deny Guardiola an unprecedented fifth consecutive English crown.

It helps Arsenal's cause that City are much weaker on paper than they were last season with the big-money departure of Julian Alvarez coinciding with Oscar Bobb's unfortunate injury to leave them light in attack which may yet be the difference in a league of slim margins.

Stephen Oladehinde

Manchester City are the obvious favourites to win the 2024/2025 Premier League, however, Arsenal's experience in the last two seasons and new signings would help them edge the Citizens this season.

I feel this year is Arsenal's and this is based on the quality in their squad, their recent signing/incoming signings, their solid defence, quality attack and previous experience.

Wake me up on the day the world is doomed to end and Manchester City are still winning the league as long as the genius Pep remains in charge.

There’s no team capable of stopping the inevitable once more this season because Pep Guardiola will have his 5/5!!

Hoping for a different outcome is a sheer waste of my time and anybody who even dares to dream.

Now, there are maybe one or two teams who could perhaps… apply pressure and but we all know how it ends after they’re done with their dance in the market square.

The Premier League in this era, has and will always be City’s birth right unless Pep resigns tomorrow.

That being said, my Top 4 predictions:

  • Manchester City
  • Liverpool
  • Manchester United
  • Chelsea

After 38 games, we will find out by May 2025 who was right and who was wrong.
