For only the second time in 16 years, Arsenal have taken all three points from Old Trafford
Arsenal shot back to the top of the Premier League table after silencing the Old Trafford faithful with a sturdy display to seal a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.
Arsenal had Belgium international Leandro Trossard to thank for the solitary goal that earned them the win over Manchester United and put them back at the pinnacle of the Premier League table with one more game week to go.
Trossard's first half strike set the tone for the match, with Arsenal dominating for large spells of the game, while Manchester United struggled to exit first gear with little left to play for in their season
How it happened
Arsenal were keen to claim a showpiece win at Old Trafford with the Premier League title race still in view for the Gunners and the visitors showed their urgency from the start of the match, denying Manchester United any breathing space.
With the absence of star players Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, Manchester United were dull in attack, while Arsenal fashioned better chances.
One of those chances eventually paid off when Trossard fired home from a Kai Havertz cut-back to open the scoring for the Gunners.
Manchester United came out of the half-time break with renewed vigour and threatened to equalise on a few occasions, but Arsenal ultimately held on to the 1-0 lead, while spurning chances of their own as well.
In the end, Trossard's goal was all Arsenal needed for the crucial three points that mean that the Premier League title race will go down to the wire once again.
