Nigerian players to leave Arsenal
Nigerian-eligible Arthur Okonkwo, Ovie Ejeheri, and left-winger Henry Davies have been listed among the players to leave Arsenal, as reported on their official website.
The news of Okonkwo leaving Arsenal this month did not come as a surprise after he stated he would leave at the end of the season.
At the age of eight, he entered Arsenal's development system and advanced through the youth ranks quickly.
At seventeen, he made his debut for the U18s, his first team as a schoolboy, and at the age of eighteen, he made his debut for the U21s.
Davies, on the other hand, left Manchester City to join Arsenal in the summer of 2021, and in December of the same year, he signed a professional deal.
However, his progress was derailed due to injury, limiting him to just two appearances, which came in the U18 Premier League throughout the seasons 2022–2023 and 2021–2022.
He was unable to make an appearance for the first team, which meant that he had to spend time on loan at Crewe Alexandra, Sturm Graz, and Wrexham in the recently finished season of 2022–2023.
Ejeheri, joined Arsenal when he was eight years old and experienced his pinnacle moment with the team in December 2021 in the Papa John's Trophy game against Ipswich Town.
However, he failed to break into the first team and joined his fellow Nigerians on the list of players to depart the club.
