Arsenal drop vital points in title race as Fulham hold the Gunners to a draw at Craven Cottage

Arsenal failed to take advantage of Liverpool’s postponed game as they dropped points against Fulham.

The Gunners travelled to Craven Cottage, looking confident after their 3-0 win against Manchester United.

The most in-form Fulham player, Alex Iwobi, was also looking to face his former side after his two goals against Brighton, alongside Emile Smith Rowe.

However, the Gunners failed to build on their winning streak and had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Fulham.

As it happened

Fulham boss Marco Silva made four changes to the side that beat Brighton 3-1 at Craven Cottage in midweek. Iwobi and Calvin Bassey retained their positions in the team.

Arsenal, on the other hand, made two changes to the side that beat Manchester United 2-0 at the Emirates on Wednesday, with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Martinelli on the bench.

Just 10 minutes into the start of the game, Fulham took the lead from a counterattack that was converted by Raul Jimenez despite Arsenal’s dominance in the early minutes.

Arsenal dominated but were unable to restore parity until the referee blew the whistle for halftime.

Arsenal continued their first-half dominance but had to depend on their set-piece tactics to get the equaliser.

Declan Rice's delivery from the corner was met by Kai Havertz, whose header was tucked into the net by William Saliba.

Arsenal got the winning goal late in the game after Martinelli put in a decent cross to Bukayo Saka to head home, but the goal was ruled out for offside by the Var.

Arteta’s men tried to push for the winner late in the last five minutes but could only end the game in a 1-1 draw.
