Mikel Arteta's team played a 1-1 draw against Brighton in a match overshadowed by a controversial penalty decision.

Arsenal could face disciplinary action from the Football Association (FA) following their Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official Keith Hackett, the potential charge stems from the reaction of Arsenal players to a penalty decision awarded against them during the match at the AMEX Stadium.

Arsenal initially took the lead through Ethan Nwaneri, deputising for the injured Bukayo Saka, giving them a 1-0 advantage at half-time.

However, Brighton equalised in the second half when Joao Pedro converted a penalty awarded after an unusual incident in the Arsenal penalty area.

The incident involved a header attempt by both Pedro and Arsenal defender William Saliba. Pedro reached the ball first, but Saliba subsequently made contact with the Brazilian's head. Referee Anthony Taylor immediately pointed to the spot, a decision upheld by VAR.

Now, Hackett suggests that the ensuing reaction from the Arsenal players could lead to further consequences for the North London club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Hackett stated, "Brighton were awarded a penalty kick for a clash of heads which was checked by VAR. It will be interesting to see if the Football Association charges Arsenal for failing to control their players given that Taylor was surrounded by protesting Arsenal players.”

The penalty resulted in a 1-1 draw, leaving Arsenal five points behind Liverpool, having played two more games.

The FA's potential investigation into the players' conduct adds another layer of concern for Arsenal following the dropped points.
