Arsenal failed to get maximum points against Brentford, as they could only settle for a draw on Saturday evening.

The Gunners rested some of their key players for the game after defeating Real Madrid 3-0 on Tuesday night.

However, they were unable to defeat Brentford and were held to a 1-1 draw, failing to close the gap on Liverpool.

The draw means that Liverpool needs only nine points in their remaining fixtures to be crowned the Premier League champions.

As it happened

Mikel Arteta made five changes for the Premier League match ahead of Arsenal's Champions League second leg with Real Madrid, while Brentford made just one change from their last Premier League game.

The Gunners started the game brightly and created chances, which led to the first goal that was ruled out for offside. Both teams took a draw into half-time.

Entering the second half, Arsenal took the lead from a counterattack that Thomas Partey buried into the net.

Brentford got the equalizer, which was scored by Yoann Wissa, after Arsenal failed to make a clearance in the box.

The Gunners pushed for the winning goal but could only settle for a draw and look forward to Wednesday’s game with Real Madrid.
