Why Ten Hag did not want to sign compatriot Joshua Zirkzee for Man United in the summer
Joshua Zirkzee was not signed by Erik Ten Hag during the summer transfer window for Manchester United due to concerns over the player's fitness, which reportedly left the Dutchman unhappy.
The Norwegian has missed twelve of Arsenal's matches, seven being in the Premier League, three in the Champions League and two in the Carabao Cup.
The draws against Manchester City and Liverpool are among those matches that the North Londoners might come to rue.
In his absence the Gunners have not looked their usual self that pushed Manchester City all the way last season with their title challenge off to a poor start this season.
Before the skipper's injury Arteta's charges had gone three matches unbeaten, winning two and drawing just one, seemingly picking up where they left off last season.
However since his injury Arsenal have gone on to lose back-to-back away games and failed to hold on to crucial leads in their draws to title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.
Their most recent loss came on Saturday as they narrowly lost to Newcastle 1-0 at St. James Park coutersy of an Alexander Isak Solitary goal.
Before that, the side suffered their first defeat off the season at the hands Bournemouth on October 19 in a 2-0 defeat.

Arteta will however take delight in the fact that his side is still in contention for the Carabao Cup and yet to lose in the Champions League where they place 9th with seven points, just two shy off the summit.
Additionally, it is still early season and the Gunners can still get their season on track with the return of their key man with key fixtures ahead.
