Beth Mead was the star of the night as England entertained fans with a goal-fest at the Amex.

England proved to be just too good for Norway after a record-breaking performance at the Women's European Championship inspired by Arsenal forward Beth Mead.

The Lionesses broke records en route an 8-0 thrashing of their counterparts from Norway.

England became the first team to score six goals in the first half of the WEURO and also the first to score eight goals in a single match.

Mead was the star of the evening and the most valuable player on the pitch after scoring an incredible hat-trick.

Two of her goals were scored in the first half, while the third arrived nine minutes from time.

Ellen White added a brace, with further goals by Georgia Standway and Lauren Hemp complete the scorer chart.

England's Lionesses progress to the last 8

After the utterly dominant and convincing win, the Lionesses have booked their spot in the last eight of the competition.

England will remain at the Amex Stadium for the quarter-final and are expected to put on another show for the fans.

The win was a better performance for the WEURO2022 hosts, who managed to beat Austria 1-0 in their opening encounter.

Norway was expected to be a difficult nut to crack but in the end, it was England who put on an emphatic show to seal a safe passage into the knockout stages.
