The transfer window is in full effect for Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking to add another exciting name to his midfield.

Arsenal are reportedly targeting a move for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia after pulling out of the race to sign Brighton's Moises Caicedo.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta wants two new midfielders to come in this summer, with Declan Rice being the main priority.

The Spaniard has identified Lavia as a perfect alternative to Caicedo and according to The Guardian, would love to pair the 19-year-old with Declan Rice in a new-look midfield.

Chelsea and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the Belgian, but it is believed that the Gunners are in pole position.

Southampton have set an asking price of £45m but Arsenal are expected to push for a lower fee.
