The Gunners are considering their options as Moises Caicedo is unlikely to leave Brighton this month.

Arsenal are considering making a move for Chelsea star Jorginho as an alternative to their long-term target Moises Caicedo.

The Gunners have been pursuing the services of Moises Caicedo all month but Brighton are playing hardball, saying Caicedo is not for sale.

Caicedo woes for Arsenal

Arsenal have already had a £60 million turned down by Brighton while their second bid of £70 million pounds plus add-ons was also rejected by The Seagulls.

Although Caicedo has urged Brighton to let him leave for what would be a club-record fee for the club, The Seagulls have refused to let him leave.

It appears Arsenal are frustrated by Brighton’s hardball stance and are considering other alternatives.

Arsenal move on from Caicedo to Jorginho

With 24 hours to go before the transfer window shuts, Arsenal are seriously considering moving on from Caicedo to other options as they badly need a midfielder, especially following Thomas Partey’s injury.

As a result, the Gunners have identified Jorginho as a potential alternative for Caicedo. Jorginho is currently on the books of Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea, but the Blues are willing to let the Italian international leave for the right offer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Jorginho’s current contract with Chelsea expires this summer, meaning Arsenal can get him for a cut-price deal this month.

Nonetheless, Chelsea still expect to receive a sizeable offer for a player who has been at the club since 2018.

Ironically, Jorginho’s potential move to Arsenal could open the door for Chelsea to sign Caicedo as they are also interested in the Ecuador international.

Meanwhile, The Blues have also reopened negotiations with Benfica over the transfer of Enzo Fernandez before the deadline day shuts.

Nonetheless, a lot is expected to happen between now and the next 24 hours for both Arsenal and Chelsea.
