LALIGA champions Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on Arsenal's Mikel Arteta as replacement for the departing Xavi.
The Defensive Dilemma
Although he had glowing remarks for the magic the pair were capable of generating, Arteta humorously reflects on the defensive responsibilities he would face when Okocha and Ronaldinho were in the attack.
Their flair and attacking prowess demanded Arteta, who played holding midfield behind the two offensive midfielders, be on high alert, ready to support the team defensively.
"Imagine me being a defender; imagine the amount of defending I'd have to do if I had Jay-Jay Okocha and Ronaldinho in front of me. I'd have an airport next to me to run to when we didn't have the ball," Arteta said on a YouTube show.
Competitive Spirit of Jay-Jay Okocha
Arteta went on to highlight Jay-Jay Okocha's competitive nature, emphasising that despite his mesmerising skills, Okocha was equally passionate about winning. Arteta appreciated Okocha's determination and drive, which added a layer of intensity to their playing dynamic.
"They were incredible, and Jay-Jay was very competitive," he answered when asked about the Nigerian's attitude towards training and if he was on the same level as Ronaldinho.
