Super Falcons of Nigeria star Ashleigh Plumptre continues come back tour with Al-Ittihad.
Plumptre was in action for Al Ittihad Ladies as they suffered a 0-2 loss to their fiercest rivals Al-Hilal in a Saudi Arabia Women’s Premier League fixture.
Ashleigh Plumptre leads Al Ittihad Ladies
Plumptre led Al Ittihad Ladies as captain against Al Hilal in a fixture dubbed the Clasico in Saudi Arabia.
The affair was back and forth with both teams unable to find the breakthrough as the first half ended without a goal.
In the second half, Al Hilal established their dominance and were rewarded with two goals.
Jessica Martinez opened the scoring in the Clasico with a stunning free kick with accuracy.
The second goal also came from Martinez who was in the right position to convert a cross.
Plumptre and her Al Ittihad side could not respond as Al Hilal held on for three points.
The 26-year-old defender has been out of action due to a long layoff but is now back in style.
Since the injury, Plumptre was not part of the Super Falcons team at the women's football event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
Plumptre was not invited to the Super Falcons set up for the international break against the Green Ladies of Algeria.
She however is set for a recall against the Les Bleues of France in a friendly this November.
