Asisat Oshoala was in Abuja to present her African Women's Player of the Year crown to the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Nigeria Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has reacted to meeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu.
In a social media post, Oshoala described what it meant to engage the new President and present her sixth African Women’s Footballer of the Year award.

Pulse Sports reported that President Tinubu hosted the FC Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala to celebrate her CAF Award in Lagos.
The Barcelona Femeni forward was crowned as the best African Female Footballer of the Year award for a record-breaking sixth time, and President Tinubu and the First Lady thanked her for her contributions to football in Nigeria.
Oshoala was applauded for her notable achievements in football and her substantial contributions to women's football on the continent by the President and the First Lady who expressed their collective admiration for her.
Oshoala reacts to the visit
According to Oshoala, in an exciting post on her Instagram account, it was a privilege to meet the nation’s number one citizen.
She noted that there were productive discussions with the Presidency regarding their aligned vision for further developing sports in Nigeria.
Oshoala went on to express her joy over their commitment to empowering the girl child through sports and education.
“Privileged to engage with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and Her Excellency, First Lady Sen. Remi Tinubu (CON),” Oshoala posted.
“Shared my 6th CAF Award 🏆joy and discussed our aligned vision for sports development in Nigeria. I’m excited about their commitment to empowering the girl child through sports and education.”
This focus dovetails perfectly with the mission of Oshoala’s personal foundation and football academy which aims to provide young girls and women greater opportunities to sports and leadership skills.

Oshoala is currently in Nigeria enjoying her holiday in the company of some of her Super Falcons colleagues and Super Eagles friends.
