Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has added another feather to her cap, having been listed as one of the top 50 best female players in the world.

In their 2023 list of the top 50 best female players, global media organisation ESPN ranked Asisat Oshoala in the 28th position.

While many might criticise Asisat Oshaola’s ranking, she is the only female African player to make the top 50 list.

The Barcelona Femeni star was recently crowned the best female footballer in Africa for a record six times on Monday in Marrakesh, Morocco.

According to ESPN, the list was voted by a panel of 32 women's soccer experts from around the globe. General managers, administrators, players, journalists, and current and former coaches for top-tier clubs or national teams, including Nigeria’s coach Randy Waldrum.

This group were asked to select their top 50 players of 2023 anonymously. Any player ranked first gets 50 points, while those ranked 50th get one point.

Asisat Oshoala only African player ranked top 50th in the world

Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala was ranked in the 28th position for her part in helping Nigeria reach the round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup before losing on penalties to England.

Asisat Oshoala also played a pivotal role as Barcelona Femeni won the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
