Nigeria Super Falcons superstar Asisat Oshoala is grateful for meeting Lagos State Governor to discuss female football in the state.
Super Falcons and Barcelona Femeni striker Asisat Oshoala has taken to her social media account to appreciate Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Oshoala was a special guest at the government house in Marina alongside some of her national teammates on Monday.
She was accompanied by the duo of Rasheedat Ajibade and Monday Gift as they paid a special visit to the Lagos State's number one man.
Oshoala in Lagos
The visit of the Barcelona star came after she had a historic outing at the ongoing FIFAWWC in Australia and New Zealand.
Oshoala made history at the World Cup as the Super Falcons reached a credible round of 16.
The 28-year-old became the first player from Africa to score three goals at the global showpiece after leading Nigeria’s Falcons to a stunning win over co-hosts Australia.
Oshoala came off the bench to score the winner as the Super Falcons defeated the Maltidas 3-2 in a dramatic second match in Group B.
That win propelled Nigeria to qualify from the group that included Olympic champions Canada before the team reached their final bus stop in the first round of the knockout stage against England, who have since made it to the final.
Oshoala and Sanwo-Olu
The Super Falcons star and her teammates were celebrated by the Governor for their incredible performances for Nigeria at the tourney as reported by Pulse Sports.
Following that visit, Oshoala has taken to her Instagram account to appreciate Sanwo-Olu for what she termed an ‘inspiring’ discussion on female football while thanking him for his support.
“Exciting day at the heart of Lagos! 🇳🇬⚽️,” the statement by Oshoala began.
“Huge gratitude to His Excellency Gov. @jidesanwoolu for an inspiring discussion on female football development.🙌 Your unwavering support fuels our passion for the game.
Let's keep driving progress for the Asisat Oshoala Foundation & Academy. 💪 #WomenInSports #LagosFootball Together, let's empower more young talents and take women's football to greater heights. 🌟 The journey continues and with your continued support, we can achieve remarkable milestones.”
