On the other hand, former Uganda Cranes skipper Dennis Masinde Onyango was on the bench as Mamelodi Sundowns comfortably beat Mauritanian side Nouadhibou 2-0 on Saturday.

Sundowns sealed a place in the quarters with a game to spare, as they sit second in Group A with 10 points, the same tally as leaders TP Mazembe.

Meanwhile, Nouadhibou and Egypt's Pyramids FC are third and bottom with four points apiece.

Elsewhere, Tanzanian side Simba SC will have to wait for the final round of matches to confirm their spot in the quarterfinals after their barren draw with Ivory Coast's Asec Mimosas, who have already progressed from Group B.

Simba is second with six points, the same as third-placed Wydad Casablanca. Jwaneng Galaxy sits rock-bottom with four points.
