The draw helped Forest move three points above the relegation zone
Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi scored twice for Nottingham Forest in a 2-2 Premier League clash to deny Chelsea a second consecutive victory.
The Blues collected a point from the home game courtesy of Raheem Sterling’s goals.
Meanwhile, after surviving in the fourth minute, Chelsea were unlucky in the 13th minute when they conceded first.
Edouard Mendy needlessly came off his line, and this gave Forest a perfect chance to strike. The Senegalese was nowhere near Renan Lodi’s cross, which Awoniyi intercepted and headed into the net.
Joe Worrall made a vital block to deny Raheem Sterling a scoring chance in the 18th minute. Sterling went ahead of the backpedaling Forest captain, and as he was about to pull the trigger, Worrall arrived swiftly to make the block.

Lewis Hall produced a brilliant pass for Joao Felix in the box; however, Keylor Navas made a fantastic save to deny the Chelsea forward in the 33rd minute. Felix found himself between two markers, and his glancing header was destined for goal before Navas’ save kept it out.
Chelsea equalized in the 51st minute with a rather easy goal from Sterling. Sterling’s finish deflected off Ryan Yates, who was on the floor after attempting to clear the danger. Some credit has to go to Trevoh Chalobah, who did well to put the ball on the byline before the goal was scored.
Sterling recorded his brace when he put Chelsea in front in the 58th minute. The former Manchester City forward brilliantly cut to his right in some space inside the box and produced a top finish that not only gave the home side the lead but also changed the mood at Stamford Bridge.

STARS ABROAD Wanyama discourages former manager from joining troubled Chelsea
Chelsea are currently under interim coach Frank Lampard.
The happiness did not last as Forest struck an equalizer almost immediately when Awoniyi also got a brace in the 62nd minute.
The Nigerian headed from close range after a throw-in was not completely cleared. There was a VAR assessment to see if Yates had contact with the ball before it fell on Awoniyi, but the goal was cleared to stand after the video assessment showed he did not.
After the draw, a loss at Manchester United in midweek would confirm a bottom-half finish for Chelsea.
