Super Eagles star Taiwo Awoniyi has drawn interest from West Ham as the East London side looks to improve their squad.

Awoniyi has struggled with getting back his starting shirt since his return from a long-term injury.

The forward’s position was taken by Chris Woods this season, limiting his playing time for Nottingham Forest.

Following his poor run of form, he has only managed two starts for Forest, with his second start coming in the FA Cup win against Luton and has scored only one goal.

According to a top West Ham source, via GIVEMESPORT, the current injury issue in the club's striker department has prompted West Ham United to consider signing Awoniyi.

Awoniyi's circumstances at Forest have made him a desirable target for the Hammers, who are keen to expand their attacking options.

Despite winning six of their 20 Premier League games this season, the London club has battled with consistency.

A prolific striker is a primary priority for Graham Potter, the new manager of West Ham, who has been entrusted with changing the team's fortunes.

West Ham compares Awoniyi to Michail Antonio, a striker who is sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a fractured leg.

Given that his contract is up in two and a half years, Awoniyi might be enticed to look for a move to jumpstart his career.

West Ham's interest might provide him the chance he needs to get back on track and start scoring goals again.
