Awoniyi’s late introduction not enough to help Forest as Wolves hold them to a draw

Nottingham Forest failed to claim their second win of the season as they were held to a draw by Wolves at City Ground.

Wolves came into the game from the back of a 6-2 thumping by Chelsea last weekend and were looking to get back on track.

Forest, on the other, were looking to build on their first win of the season after beating Southampton last weekend.

However, both teams were only able to settle for a 1-1 draw at full-time following a fierce contest.

As it happened

The Nottingham Forest team that defeated Southampton by a narrow margin in their recent Premier League game remained unchanged.

Ola Aina, who was in action for Forest against Joe Aribo’s Southampton in their first win of the season, made the lineup for his team.

Wolves manager Gary O'Neill has made four changes after his team lost 6-2 to Chelsea. Sam Johnstone, a deadline-day signing, is started in goal for the first time, while fellow newcomer Andre is on the bench.

The game started and Forest took the early lead in the 11th minute when Chris Wood got a free header from the corner and nodded the ball coolly off the inside of the far post.

It did not take long before Wolves equalised through a poor clearance from Ibrahim Sangare. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde struck the ball from outside the box, and it flew into the top right corner. Both teams went into the halftime break, having scored just one goal each.

The second half started and the home side looked very dangerous in their attack but could not convert their chances.

The game went on without any clear-cut chances but later came to life when the home side took the lead; however, it was ruled out for offside.

The referee blew the whistle for full time, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw, which left Nottingham Forest disappointed.
