Ayew's Apology and Reflection
"As the captain of the squad, I take full responsibility for what happened on the pitch for the playing body," Ayew expressed in the video, showing humility and accountability in the face of adversity.
He further added, "In Football, these are things that happen. These are things that make you stronger. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger individually and collectively."
Ayew's apology comes in the aftermath of Ghana's shocking exit from the AFCON, marked by Mozambique's dramatic equalizer with two goals in added time.
The Black Stars struggled throughout the tournament, finishing third in a challenging group that included Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
Ghana's AFCON Disappointment
Despite high hopes and expectations, Ghana endured a difficult campaign, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde and settling for back-to-back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique.
This disappointing performance marks the second consecutive AFCON where Ghana has exited at the group stages without securing a victory, prolonging the nation's quest for its fifth AFCON title to 42 years.
