Police were held to a 1-1 draw by Ulinzi Stars in the Disciplined Forces Derby on Friday afternoon.

Kenya Police FC head coach Francis Baraza has torn into his charges for failing to push for a winner after soaking in the equalizer against Ulinzi Stars in the 1-1 draw on Friday.

The Law Enforcers controlled the game for the first 60 minutes and deservedly were leading through Elvis Machapo Rupia’s goal, but a Steven Etyang’ freekick gave the Soldiers a foothold into the game.

“I must praise both teams today,” he said. “However, I am not very happy with my team’s lack of effort towards the end because we did not produce many shots on target despite creating many chances,” he added.

“We cannot be fully satisfied with a point. I will try and push the team to the very end because the league is not over though.”

“I do not know what happened to my boys after conceding the equalizer. I do not know what got into them. Ulinzi had nothing in the game but after Etyang equalized, they sat back to protect their lead. Once again I am critical of my boys for wasting so many chances in the final third.”

A win for Police would have put them within just five points of league leaders Tusker albeit with a game in hand, but they now sit on 57 points.

Baraza had expressed optimism that his side still stood a chance of winning the title, but failing to beat Ulinzi who were without head coach Bernard Mwalala in the dugout is a big blow to his side’s chances.
