With his side set to face Brest in the Champions League, Barcelona's Hansi Flick has welcomed the challenge of facing one of Europe's most in-form teams
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is urging his team to learn from their recent LaLiga struggles as they prepare for a critical Champions League clash against Brest.
With Brest sitting unbeaten in the Champions League group stage, one point ahead of Barcelona, the Blaugrana must secure a win to increase their chances of automatic qualification and boost their confidence after inconsistent domestic performances.
Flick calls for game management improvement
Speaking ahead of the game, Flick has called for better game management as his youthful Barcelona side continues to develop.
Reflecting on their recent draw against Celta Vigo, Flick noted how a two-goal lead was squandered due to a lack of control.
“We always want to play and attack, but sometimes it’s enough to control the ball and defend well,” Flick explained, adding, “With 0-2 in our favor, we should have done better. It’s a lesson for our young team. The process isn’t always smooth, but it’s vital to learn from such moments.”
Flick also acknowledged the challenges posed by tough away games and external conditions, adding, “There are no excuses, but we must learn to adapt and stay composed.”
Flick remains confident in youth despite challenges
Despite recent setbacks, Flick remains firm in his belief in the quality and potential of his players. He dismissed concerns about doubt creeping into the team following their loss of form hammering on the team’s positive mindset.
“This is a young team, probably the youngest in the league. It’s normal to encounter difficulties during the season.
“What matters is learning and improving. The quality of these players is incredible, and we see it every day in training. We just need to translate it onto the pitch consistently,” Flick said.
As Barcelona prepares for Brest, the Blaugrana will hope Flick’s lessons translate into a commanding performance against a formidable side in the Champions League.
