Pedri and Gavi both got on the scoresheet as Barcelona put Real Madrid to the sword to win the Supercopa de Espana trophy
Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-1 to claim the Spanish Supercopa, the first official title of Xavi Hernandes’ reign as manager, and it was largely thanks to the Catalan’s pair of midfield wonderkids.
Gavi and Pedri both got on the scoresheet, opening and concluding Barcelona’s scoring as they ran out 3-1 winners in a convincing humbling of their arch rivals.
Karim Benzema scored a 93rd minute consolation for Real Madrid, but it did nothing to dent Barcelona’s title celebrations that had already been secured thanks to goals from Gavi, Robert Lewandowski and Pedri.
The win represents Barcelona’s first Supercopa triumph since the competition moved to a four-team format in 2019 after being losing finalists against Atletic Bilbao in 2021.
