Bayern Munich’s clash against Freiburg and Dortmund’s match against Union Berlin headline gameweek 27 in Bundesliga this weekend.

Gameweek 27 takes centre stage this weekend in the 2022-2023 Bundesliga season, with some exciting matches in the queue.

Last weekend saw Bayern Munich return to the summit after they defeated Borussia Dortmund in the top-of-the-table clash at Allianz Arena

Meanwhile, Union Berlin are back in the title race after they thrashed VFB Stuttgart 3-0 to move within five points of Bayern.

This weekend could see another twist and turn, with some interesting matches between the title contenders. There is also a big match at the bottom of the table on Sunday.

Pulse Sports previews some of these games as we look forward to another exciting Bundesliga weekend.

Freiburg vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich will be gunning for revenge when they take on Freiburg at The Europa-Park Stadion on Saturday after Breisgau-Brasilianer ended their treble hopes.

The two sides met on Tuesday in the semi-final of the DFB Pokal, with Freiburg winning 2-1, thanks to a late penalty from Lucas Holer.

The defeat ended Bayern’s hopes of winning a treble, with only the league and Champions League left. The good news for Bayern is that they have the chance to respond immediately against the same team.

The game holds a huge significance for both teams. Bayern will stay on top with a win, while Freiburg will stay in the top four if they can repeat Tuesday’s heroics.

Despite the defeat on Tuesday, Bayern are favourites in this game as they have won six of their last eight league games.

However, Freiburg’s form is not bad either, with three wins and two draws in their last five league games.

Whatever happens, this promises to be an exciting encounter.

Borussia Dortmund vs Union Berlin

Dortmund lost their top spot position last week after they were deservedly beaten by Bayern Munich.

However, they can return to the top of the table this weekend if they beat Union Berlin in tomorrow’s second vs third clash and Bayern fail to get the maximum points against Freiburg.

Despite the defeat last week, Dortmund have been the best team in the league since the turn of the year.

Aside from the defeat last week and the draw against Schalke 04, the Black and Yellow have won all their league games this year.

However, while they will feel confident in their chances on Saturday, they go into the match on the back of a 2-0 loss to RB Leipzig in the DFB Pokal.

Also, they face a Union Berlin side with newfound confidence after overcoming their patchy form.

The Iron Ones have managed to drag themselves back into the title race and could go second with a win on Saturday.

History favours Dortmund, though, as they have won their last three games against Union Berlin in all competitions.

Hoffenheim vs Schalke 04

While there are interesting battles at the top, there is also a big match at the bottom of the table as Hoffenheim take on Schalke 04 in a relegation battle.

Hoffenheim host Schalke in an encounter crucial to their survival hopes. Schalke currently sit second from the bottom, four points behind their host on Sunday.

The Royal Blues find themselves in this position, not because of many losses but because they cannot convert draws into wins.

Schalke have lost just two of their last ten league games, but they have also won just two in the same number of matches.

Hoffenheim are not fairing well either. In fact, Schalke have a better run of results going into the clash.

The Blues have won their last two league games but had lost their last eight before the two victories.

In fact, Hoffenheim had been on a losing run in the league since October before they finally ended their run against Hertha Berlin and Werder Bremen.

The two wins were enough to take them out of the relegation zone, and they will hope to continue in the same vein against Schalke.

History favours the home side as they have won five of their last six games at home against Schalke in all competitions.

Meanwhile, in other games going down this weekend, RB Leipzig will hope to keep pace with their top four rivals when they travel to Hertha Berlin.

FC Augsburg host FC Cologne while Bayer Leverkusen will hope to keep up their good form when they welcome Eintracht Frankfurt.

FSV Mainz will take on Werder Bremen while Borussia Monchengladbach host Wolfsburg. VFL Bochum will lock horns with VFB Stuttgart.
