Bayern look to a returning star as they attempt to pull off a miracle against Manchester City
Bayern Munich’s attempt to produce one of the most incredible comebacks in UEFA Champions League history has been buoyed by the return to fitness of a key player who was sidelined for the first leg of their quarterfinal tie against Manchester City.
Bayern chasing the impossible against Manchester City
Nearly a week ago, Bayern Munich were gobsmacked by a 3-0 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad, leaving them with an almost impossible task to overturn the deficit at the Allianz Arena.
The Bavarians have struggled of late under new boss Thomas Tuchel with their recent form showing that they will need to be at their best to overcome Manchester City and reach an improbable semifinal.
With a few players in the squad either injured or out of form, Bayern will take salvation from wherever it comes, and a previously injured player could provide it for them.
Choupo-Moting to the rescue for Bayern
Considering what is at stake for Bayern Munich, they will be happy to welcome Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting back into the fold, with the Cameroonian striker set to feature against Manchester City in the UCL.
Bayern sorely lacked presence upfront in their quarterfinal first-leg defeat, and their quick yet confused front three failed to cause their opponents any real problems.
Ahead of the second-leg, many believe that having a recognised centre-forward for the second leg will go a long way in helping the Bavarians achieve the impossible against Manchester City.
Choupo-Moting has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season and assisted four more in 28 games, earning himself a new contract with Bayern that is now set to expire in 2024.

If he is able to help Bayern Munich get out of this rot, he may well earn himself an even longer contract as well as the undying admiration of the Bayern fans.
Meanwhile, some hope for Bayern Munich against Manchester City
German champions Bayern Munich have a date with destiny on Wednesday night as they take on Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.
The Bavaria giants face almost an impossible task against Pep Guardiola’s men after losing the first leg 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium last week.

However, while the mission is difficult, there is always a chance, and as the popular saying goes, miracles do happen in football.
