The 21-year-old striker has been in scintillating form for record-champions Gor Mahia.

Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala has admitted that his side is feeling pressure as the Football Kenya Premier League (FKFPL) enters the homestretch.

K’Ogalo moved back to the top of the FKF PL table last weekend after beating Kenya Police 1-0, and with the league race hotting up, Omala admits they are feeling the heat.

“The pressure is there since it has been a long time since we have been league champions,” the former Western Stima striker told reporters on Tuesday.

Omala affirmed their readiness to see off competition and lift the trophy at the end of the season.

“As players and the technical bench we want to win the league this season. As Gor Mahia we are taking each game at a time and as a striker my my main is to score,” he added.

Omala is leading the Golden Boot title race, having hit the back of the net 24 times in as many matches.

He will be leaking his side in the goal hunt against FC Talanta in their next league outing on Wednesday at Moi International Stadium.

His sharpness in front of goal has begun attracting suitors, including South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates.

Gor Mahia sits top log with 56 points, two more than Tusker FC, with eight games left until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
