Kenya U-18 striker Dan Oluoch returns from Mali dispelling rumors of being dropped from ABM Football Academy.

Kenya U-18 national team striker Dan Oluoch has spoken out to quash rumors surrounding his departure from ABM Football Academy in Mali.

Dan, the younger brother of Benson Omalla, the current leading scorer in the FKF Premier League, found himself at the center of social media speculation after his recent sighting in Nairobi.

However, Oluoch has made it clear that his short stint at the academy was predefined by the duration of his contract.

"When I arrived in Mali, many believed I would not make it since there were many good players from various parts of Africa," Dan explained as per The Buzz Kenya.

Despite these challenges, he quickly adapted and showcased his prowess.

"I made friends there, but my contract was only for five months, and it expired. I felt bad because it couldn't be renewed since I would be turning 18 in December, making me ineligible to stay," he added.

Dan's tenure at ABM Football Academy was notably successful, contradicting any rumors of inadequacy.

"Overall, the coaches were impressed with me, and I was happy to be there. I played 25 games and scored 16 goals, so I wasn't dropped; it was just that my contract ran out," he concluded.

The young striker was originally discovered during the Nyanza Region Safaricom Chapa Dimba Under-19 football tournament in Kisumu.

His performance not only highlighted his potential but also paved the way for his inclusion in the national setup.

Dan made his mark by playing for the Junior Stars, who won silver in the 2023 CECAFA Under-18 football tournament.

Like his elder brother Benson, who was unearthed at the second Safaricom Chapa Dimba while playing for Manyatta FC and later attended a boot camp in Barcelona, Spain, Dan's journey is equally inspiring.

The Safaricom Chapa Dimba has been instrumental in identifying and nurturing talents across Kenya.

This initiative has contributed several top players to both local and international football scenes, such as David Majak of Tusker FC, Jentrix Shikangwa of Simba Queens in Tanzania, and many others who have moved to professional leagues across the globe.
