Marmoush's impressive form hasn't gone unnoticed by his manager, Pep Guardiola, who recently sang his praises in an interview with Super Sport.
Guardiola revealed that City had been keeping tabs on the Egyptian striker's performances in Germany, where he had been making waves with Frankfurt.
"The club saw him, they found him in Germany making an incredible, incredible impact," Guardiola explained.
"This season, before he came to us, he was currently the best player in Germany."
Guardiola's claim may raise some eyebrows, given the presence of talented players like Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala in the Bundesliga.
However, Marmoush had scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists in 18 games before leaving Frankfurt and has scored 6 in 11 at the Etihad.
Guardiola was quick to acknowledge the significant impact Marmoush has made since joining the club.
"He's a fantastic player, and we have to admit the impact he's made with us has been really, really good."
