Uganda sit third in Group F and needs to win the game and pray that Algeria beat Tanzania in the other match for any chance to qualification. The match will be played on Thursday night at 10 PM in Marrakech, Morocco.

Scotland-based defender Bevis Mugabi is targeting a second appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations with the Uganda Cranes.

The Motherwell FC defender made his debut for the Uganda Cranes in March 2018 in a build-up friendly against São Tomé and Príncipe.

He was recalled again in 2019 ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where the Cranes reached the round of 16.

Back again

The 28-year-old last appeared for the team in a 1-all draw against Niger before suffering an injury that sidelined him for the team’s doubleheader against Tanzania and Algeria.

Mugabi is back and fired ahead of Uganda Cranes’ ultimate battle against Niger on Thursday as he eyes his second appearance on Africa’s premier show.

“It’s good to be back to the Uganda cranes team, especially through my injury program, but I’m getting back to speed and preparing for this game on Thursday that is very important for us as a team and the country,” Mugabi said after arriving in camp on Monday.

“Hopefully, we will be in the best position to qualify for AFCON. It’s going to be difficult, but hopefully, we can take a big step to my second Africa Cup of Nations,” he adds.
