The Ulinzi Stars defender is eager and ready for the match
Ulinzi Stars assistant captain Brian Birgen has revealed that they hope to continue dominating games when they face Gor Mahia in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match on Saturday afternoon.
The teams are set to meet at Ulinzi Sports Complex with the Soldiers hoping to avenge the 2-1 defeat inflicted on them by K’Ogalo last season.
Speaking ahead of the match, Birgen says he expects a difficult battle against a consistent Gor Mahia.
“It is a big encounter and every time we face Gor Mahia it’s a delightful game. We know that it is going to be a difficult game and we will give it our best since the team is ready and fresh for the game.We are expecting a good encounter” said Birgen.
The experienced defender added that he believes Ulinzi has more structure under coach Bernard Mwalala.
“The mindset has been instilled in the team by the coach and all players have to be ready at all times. We have a squad full of quality players and when one is presented with the opportunity to play, they need to be ready.
The boys are looking sharp and it’s important for us to go into the match with a positive mindset,” he concluded.
Birgen scored the lone goal for Ulinzi Stars when the two teams last met in an FKF Premier League match on March 6, 2022, at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
Both clubs have met 18 times since 2014, with Ulinzi winning two matches, losing seven, and drawing nine.
Ulinzi Stars are placed seventh on the FKF Premier League table with 24 points from 15 matches played this season.
