The match doubled as a Ligue 1 title celebration for PSG, saw Mbappé score on his final home appearance for the club.

Kylian Mbappé's emotional goodbye at Parc des Princes ended on a sour note as Paris Saint-Germain slumped to a surprise 3-1 defeat against Toulouse.

The match doubled as a Ligue 1 title celebration for PSG, saw Mbappé score on his final home appearance for the club.

Mbappé confirmed his departure via social media on Friday, ending a seven-year stint with the French giants as Real Madrid is widely expected to be his next destination.

Mbappe scored his 44th goal of the season

Playing with the captain's armband, Mbappé opened the scoring early, adding to his impressive tally of 44 goals in all competitions this season.

However, a much-changed PSG side, featuring just Mbappé from their midweek Champions League exit against Borussia Dortmund, struggled for cohesion.

Thijs Dallinga quickly equalized for Toulouse, who capitalized on PSG's weakened lineup. Yann Gboho put the visitors ahead with a brilliant strike in the second half, and Frank Magri sealed the win in stoppage time.

The defeat marked only PSG's second Ligue 1 loss of the season, and their first in 27 games since September.

Mbappe leaving PSG as all-time scorer

Mbappé's 256 goals for PSG remain a club record since his arrival from Monaco in a €180 million deal in 2017.

He also sits seventh on the all-time Ligue 1 top scorers list with 191 goals, including his early career spell at Monaco. Before the match, coach Luis Enrique hailed him as "a club legend."

While PSG planned their post-match celebrations to focus on the Ligue 1 title rather than Mbappé's departure, the atmosphere surrounding the star player was mixed. Some fans jeered him, while others unveiled a giant tifo display in his honor.

The Qatari-owned club had already secured a record-extending 12th French title, their 10th in the last 12 years, before hosting a Toulouse side safe from relegation worries.

However, PSG's Champions League disappointment means Mbappé departs without the coveted European trophy. They finished runners-up in 2020 and reached the semifinals twice more, but the France captain will now aim to win the Champions League with his new club.

There's still a chance for PSG to complete a domestic treble. They face Lyon in the French Cup final on May 25th.
