The match took place on Friday night, marking a promising start for Troost-Ekong and his Saudi team in the new year.

In a fiercely contested game, Al Kholood demonstrated resilience, fighting off Ettifaq, who came behind twice before securing the win.

Post-match, Troost-Ekong expressed his excitement on social media with an enthusiastic message:

Al Kholood off to a winning start to the year.

“2025 BLOOD DEY HOT🩸+3,” reflecting his positive outlook after the hard-fought win.

This performance adds to his season tally of one goal and one assist, further solidifying his impact in the league for his team.

For Al Kholood, the victory represents not only a winning start to the year but also a return to winning ways after they ended the year with a 3-0 defeat at home.

Troost-Ekong joins the likes of former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo, who shone for Al-Wehda, and Saviour Godwin as the Nigerians who have started the year in good form in the Saudi Pro League.
