Super Eagles star Victor Boniface has revealed that he was disappointed not to be nominated for the CAF Player of the Year Award.
Boniface was one of the best African players in Europe last season, having helped Bayer Leverkusen make history.
The striker was part of Xabi Alonso’s team to storm Europe and set an unbeaten record of 51 games without losing and also won the Bundesliga title.
However, despite his exploit, the striker failed to make the list for the CAF Player of the Year Award.

According to reports, Super Eagles star Victor Boniface is set to lose manager as Xabi Alonso is expected to depart Bayer Leverkusen after the end of the 2024–25 campaign.

Bayer Leverkusen star Boniface has named Ademola Lookman as his favourite to win the 2024 CAF POTY Award.
Speaking during an interview with Oluwashina Okeleji on X, Boniface was asked if he was disappointed not being shortlisted for the CAF award.
The Super Eagles striker said, “Yeah, of course. If it is what I did last season, of course. I don't stress about it.”
He was also asked who he would pick to win the award, he continued, "Lookman, for sure 100%. But if I were there, I would always pick myself. That one is normal; I would always pick for myself.”
Boniface has started the new season in remarkable form for Leverkusen, scoring six goals in 10 appearances.
He is currently with the Super Eagles team for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and played a part in the 1-1 draw against Benin Republic.
The forward will be looking to start against Rwanda in Uyo as the Super Eagles look to finish the qualifying series unbeaten.
